How do I log a banana without weighing it?
Open the food’s serving review and choose a size under Serving size. Raw bananas include small, medium, and large options with reference weights for the edible part and length ranges. Enter how many you ate, including a fraction. Other foods offer household measures when their source provides them. These are average reference amounts; use a weighed portion if you need the weight of your particular food.
Why does a scanned food still show 100 g?
The offline catalog cannot know a serving that its source did not provide. First check that the product matches your package. In the serving review, open Define a serving from the label, enter the portion description and the label’s weight or volume, and remember it. Do not enter a volume as a weight unless the package provides that conversion. A scan always opens a review before anything is logged.
Can I save cooking instructions on a packaged meal?
Yes. Open the food review, add preparation instructions, and save them for that food. You do not have to log it to save the instructions. They remain on this iPhone for the next time you open the food. A diary entry note is separate and belongs to that entry.
How do recipes and cooked portions work?
Create a recipe, add the ingredients for the whole batch, choose its number of servings, and save your instructions. If you want to log by cooked weight, enter the weight of the finished food without its container. The total nutrient amounts still come from the ingredients; the finished weight determines how much of the batch a weighed portion represents. Account for ingredients you discard separately.
Use Review nutrient coverage in the recipe builder to see which ingredients lack complete values for each nutrient. Known subtotals remain available, with partial-data notices carried into newly saved recipe foods, diary totals and reports, including recipes used inside other recipes. Editing servings, cooked weight, ingredients or instructions updates the saved recipe for new logs. Existing diary entries retain their original food snapshots and quantities. Older food snapshots without ingredient-coverage metadata cannot be reconstructed automatically.
How do nutrition reports and completed days work?
Open Nutrition reports from the food diary. Choose a nutrient and 7, 30, 90, or 365 days, or a custom date range. Reports initially end yesterday to leave out today's unfinished diary; you can change the end date. Include days with food logs or only days you explicitly mark complete. Mark a day complete in the diary when you finish logging. Changing its foods, amounts, meals, dates, or notes reopens it.
Recorded averages divide known nutrient amounts by the number of included days. Days without food logs are excluded unless you explicitly mark an empty day complete. Missing source values are flagged and can make the recorded average lower than actual intake. Charts leave unknown values blank, and amber bars identify partial food values. Meal and food totals open the original entries and their diary dates. Current daily references are shown for context; the report does not reconstruct historical targets or combine food records with Apple Health nutrition. All calculations and completion marks stay on device.
Does the offline catalog update itself?
No. Salus searches the catalog included in the installed app. New and reformulated products may be absent or different from the package in your hand. Review the physical label, create a custom food, or use on-device Nutrition Facts capture when needed. Catalog updates arrive in app updates.
A barcode is not recognized
Salus uses exact lookup against its bundled offline catalog. Try these steps:
- Fit the whole barcode inside the viewfinder and hold the phone still.
- Tap the barcode on screen to focus and expose for it.
- Use the torch in low light and avoid glare across the bars.
- Flatten flexible packaging if you can do so without hiding the code.
- Use manual barcode entry if the camera cannot resolve it.
When Salus recognizes a catalog barcode, it opens the same serving review used by food search. Confirm the meal, number of servings, or package weight before adding it. Nothing is added from a scan without that review.
A valid scan can still have no catalog match. Regional items, newly launched products, store-prepared foods, and reformulated products may be absent. Search by product or brand name, choose a generic equivalent, or create a custom food.
The Nutrition Facts panel is on a curved package
Salus uses one photo only. Place the package in even light, keep the full facts panel inside the frame, and position the camera as square to the center of the panel as possible. Leave a small margin around the text. Avoid flash glare, fingers, folds, and motion blur.
After the first recognition pass, Salus may enhance and inspect overlapping regions from that same photo. Severe curvature can still wrap text beyond the visible side. Review every extracted serving and nutrient value against the package before saving.
Where are fast food and foods without barcodes?
Use name search rather than the barcode button. The offline catalog includes USDA generic foods, branded and store-brand products, vitamins and mineral supplements, current generic restaurant and fast-food descriptions, and historical chain-specific menu entries. Search the food, product, brand, restaurant, or menu-item name. Salus ranks close whole-name and brand matches first and limits the initial list; add another word when a name is broad. Availability and nutrient coverage vary by record.
How do I add a vitamin or supplement?
Use the same meal “+”, search, barcode, or label-photo tools used for food. There is no separate generic multivitamin button because formulations vary by brand, market, and product. Choose the exact catalog product when available, or photograph and carefully review its Supplement Facts panel before saving a custom entry. Salus does not recommend a dose or check interactions.
Why did yesterday’s food not appear today?
Each nutrition entry belongs only to the calendar day selected when it was added. Earlier foods may appear as clearly labelled suggestions, but they are not counted in today’s diary until you tap Add. Use the copy controls to choose a source date, foods, and destination meal when you intentionally want to repeat entries. A copied batch can be undone; entries you subsequently edit are preserved.
A nutrient is blank or missing
Blank means the source did not provide a trustworthy value. Salus does not turn missing data into zero. Try another catalog record, check the physical label, or enter the verified value in a custom food or supplement. Creatine is supported for manual entry and label capture, but the official imported sources did not provide reliable creatine values for the bundled catalog.
What is the difference between Daily Value and my target?
FDA Daily Values are fixed label references used to compare foods. They are not calculated from your body. When enough profile information is available, Salus separately estimates editable maintenance calories, macros, fiber, water, added sugar, and saturated fat using age, height, weight, biological-sex choice, and activity inferred from training days. Those estimates do not account for pregnancy, breastfeeding, medical conditions, or a weight-change goal.
Does nutrition search need internet access?
No. Food-name search, exact barcode lookup, saved meals, custom foods, and nutrient tracking use data stored on your iPhone. Label text recognition also runs on the device.
Training and preferences
Understand the record, load, and pace
Where did a personal record come from?
Open Train → Progress, choose an exercise, then review Personal records. A record row opens the saved workout and supporting set. Rep-count rows use sets actually recorded at that count. Warm-ups, incomplete sets, and invalid values do not qualify. Ties keep the earlier result. The first workout establishes a baseline for later new-best feedback.
What weight do I enter for an assisted pull-up?
Use the exercise’s Weight represents setting to choose assistance, then enter the machine’s assistance amount. Less assistance for the same reps is an improvement. For weighted bodyweight exercises, enter added load. Salus does not invent a bodyweight contribution to working-load volume; assistance and bodyweight sets are excluded from that total.
Why is a running pace comparison missing?
Recorded interval comparisons need a prescribed pace and enough reliable route coverage during the relevant work segments. A manual distance total, an indoor workout without a recorded route, GPS gaps, or an unfinished interval may not qualify. You can still review the data actually recorded. A comparison does not automatically change your plan’s pace targets.
How do I change language or units?
Choose Language in Salus Settings for English or Spanish. Change Units in Health profile and save. Supported displays convert while stored measurements retain their physical amount. Nutrient units follow food-label conventions. Keep the paired iPhone and Watch connected long enough for the Salus Watch app to receive the setting; it remembers the last received preference locally.
How do I review and update running paces?
Open your saved running plan and find Running Pace Review. It uses the latest three qualifying runs from that plan on different days, within the last eight weeks; the most recent must be within two weeks. Sessions need complete prescribed intervals, at least five minutes of paced work, reliable GPS coverage, a consistent pace trend, and recorded effort supporting the change. The review explains exclusions and opens the original workouts.
Salus proposes half the median pace difference, capped at 3% per accepted update. These are Salus’s local rules, not a race prediction. Review terrain, weather, and recovery before choosing Apply. The preview lists every changed target in your selected units. Dates, durations, distances, completed workouts, and started sessions are protected. Undo restores eligible upcoming targets while preserving later manual changes. Applying or undoing starts a new evidence window; the same old runs cannot immediately trigger another update.
What works without an internet connection?
Food search, barcode matching against the bundled catalog, label text recognition, recipes, instructions, workout logs, local plans, and calculations run on device. An unknown barcode is not looked up on a remote server. App Store purchases and restoration, website links, and support email use their usual network services. Your wearable may have its own requirements before it writes records to Apple Health.
Apple Watch workouts
Heart-rate sampling during training
Does starting Train on iPhone increase Apple Watch heart-rate sampling?
A phone timer alone does not record a Watch workout. Start in the Salus Watch app, or use an available Watch start control on iPhone and confirm that the session has started on your Watch. Apple’s Workout app can also record a workout. Apple controls the actual sensor cadence and may vary it by activity, fit, battery, motion, and hardware. Other wearables follow their own recording apps and Apple Health export behavior.
Cycle
Setup, privacy, exports, and Apple Health
How do I turn Cycle on or off?
Cycle is available only to adults 18 and older with a Female or Prefer not to say profile choice. It defaults on for an eligible Female profile. An eligible Prefer not to say profile can turn it on in setup or Settings → Dashboard and tabs, then confirm they are 18 or older. It is unavailable for a Male profile. Turning it off hides the tab but does not delete local records.
Why did Cycle turn off after I changed my age?
Cycle tracking contains sensitive reproductive-health features and is not available to people under 18. If the saved age is changed to under 18, Salus turns Cycle off and explains why. All other Salus features remain available. Update your age only if it was entered incorrectly.
Are Cycle estimates fertility or medical guidance?
No. Salus uses explicit period starts to offer a broad calendar estimate only after enough history is available. It does not provide fertility, contraception, conception, pregnancy, diagnosis, treatment, or emergency guidance, and it does not change Readiness or your training plan.
What does Cycle read or write in Apple Health?
Apple Health access is optional and requested only from Cycle. Salus may read the listed reproductive record types and can save only confirmed menstrual flow, intermenstrual bleeding when you log spotting, basal body temperature, cervical-mucus quality, ovulation-test results, and progesterone-test results. Symptoms, notes, estimates, phases, associations, safety cues, and demo records stay in Salus. External Apple Health records are read-only in Salus.
How do I export or delete Cycle records?
From Cycle, choose a 3-, 6-, 12-cycle, or custom range for a local PDF and CSV. Read the privacy warning before sharing; notes require a separate opt-in. Delete a local log from its editor or use Settings → Local data and storage. A separate confirmation is required to remove a Cycle sample Salus created in Apple Health.
Apple Health
Permissions, imports, and devices
A signal says unavailable or needs more data
Open Salus Settings and review Data permissions, then check the same date and metric in the Apple Health app. Confirm that the wearable or source app actually wrote records to Apple Health.
Apple does not tell an app whether a read category was denied, so Salus may be unable to distinguish denied access from no records. Restoring access does not create measurements that the source never recorded.
A full-history import stopped
Completed batches and import checkpoints remain local. Salus avoids forcing an interrupted import into a launch loop. When the app is usable, open Data permissions and use the resume or retry control for unfinished signals. Keep the app open and the iPhone powered while a large first import completes.
Garmin or Amazfit data is incomplete
Salus does not connect directly to Garmin or Amazfit. It reads records that a supported source makes available through Apple Health. Check the manufacturer’s source-app settings, confirm Apple Health sharing is enabled there, and verify the record appears in Apple Health. Not every device exports every signal.
Why is a device not selectable?
The list is limited to devices with a supported, truthful Apple Health path. A product is not added merely because it exists. For example, a device that cannot write its records to Apple Health would create a selection that Salus cannot use.
What can Salus write to Apple Health?
Apple’s authorization sheet lists workout writing separately from read categories. If you allow it, Salus may save completed workouts, active energy you entered, and distance or route data Salus actually measured. This works regardless of the wearable selected because the iPhone writes through HealthKit. Cycle separately asks for permission only when you open its Apple Health control and confirm a record. Salus never writes derived scores, recommendations, notes, sets, profile values, corrections, estimated calories, or estimated heart rate.
Purchases and local data
Restore, manage, protect, or delete
Restore a purchase
Use Restore Purchases on the membership screen or in Salus Settings while signed into the Apple Account used for the original purchase. Subscription management opens Apple’s system subscription page. Apple handles billing and refunds; Salus cannot directly charge, cancel, or refund an App Store transaction.
Cancel a subscription
Open iOS Settings, select your Apple Account, then Subscriptions. Choose Salus and follow Apple’s cancellation controls. Deleting Salus does not cancel an active subscription.
Delete Salus data
Open Salus Settings and use Local data & security to delete available categories or all Salus data. You can also delete the app. This removes Salus’s local copy but does not remove original records from Apple Health or another source. Manage those records separately in the Health app or source app.
Turn on the app lock
Open Salus Settings and enable the app lock under Local data & security. Authentication uses Apple’s Face ID, Touch ID, or device-passcode system. Also review lock-screen notification previews in iOS Settings if other people can see your phone.
A widget or Watch view has not updated
Open Salus on the iPhone, allow the current sync to finish, and check that the relevant Apple Health data is present. Widgets and the Watch app display limited local snapshots and may refresh on Apple’s schedule. Restart the app or re-add the widget if the snapshot remains stale.
Safety
Medical or urgent questions
Salus support cannot interpret symptoms, diagnose a condition, recommend treatment, or provide emergency help. Contact a qualified healthcare professional for medical questions. If you believe you may have an emergency, contact local emergency services immediately.
